Adventure Balloon Egypt is a licensed hot air balloon operator based in Luxor. We fly from our own field on the West Bank, with our own balloons, our own pilots and our own ground crew. When you book with us you are booking with the company that actually flies you — not with an agency that passes your name to whoever has a seat.
Flying over Luxor
Luxor is one of the great ballooning sites on earth, and not by accident. The Nile valley here produces a reliable band of light, stable morning air; the necropolis sits in a natural bowl between the river and the western cliffs; and the sun comes up behind Karnak, throwing the tombs and temples into relief exactly as you drift over them. There are perhaps five places in the world where a balloon flight is genuinely worth crossing a continent for. This is one of them.
How we work
Our pilots
Every flight is commanded by a pilot holding an Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority commercial balloon licence, with recorded hours over this specific terrain. Flying Luxor well is a local skill: you need to know how the morning breeze shifts as the sun hits the cliffs, where the landing fields are, and which farmer’s crop you must not put a basket into.
Our equipment
Envelopes, baskets and burners are maintained on the schedule set by the authority and inspected before every flight. Equipment that is out of date does not leave the hangar. This is not an area where anybody sensible economises.
Our ground crew
The part guests rarely think about. A chase crew follows every flight by road, reads the same wind the pilot is reading, and is at the landing site before the basket is. They are the reason a balloon landing in a sugar-cane field in Upper Egypt is an orderly event rather than an adventure.
Why book direct
Most balloon bookings in Luxor pass through two or three hands before they reach an operator — a hotel desk, an online marketplace, a local agency. Each one takes a margin, and none of them is responsible for the flight. Booking direct means:
- The real price. No marketplace commission built into the fare.
- One point of contact. The person answering your WhatsApp is the person who can change your pickup.
- Honest availability. We tell you when we are full instead of selling you a seat and sorting it out later.
- A clean cancellation. Free cancellation up to 24 hours, refunded by us directly, not via a third party’s dispute process.
What we will not do
We will not fly you in marginal weather to protect a booking. We will not overload a basket. We will not quote you a price and add “government fees” at the field. If any operator in Luxor does any of those things to you, that is worth knowing before you get in the basket, not after.
